CooperVision has expanded the parameters of its Avaira™ two-week replacement silicone hydrogel lenses. A new sphere power range up to -12.00D allows more patients to experience the remarkably high level of wearing comfort that the company’s premium third-generation silicone hydrogel lens has to offer.

Avaira features a naturally wettable material that allows the lens to stay moist without surface treatments, additives, or wetting agents. Its natural wettability is made possible by the same unique Aquaform technology found in CooperVision’s Biofinity® monthly replacement silicone hydrogel contact lenses. Aquaform technology delivers optimal comfort and minimizes deposits, while also allowing a high level of oxygen to pass through the lens. Additionally, Avaira’s modulus of 0.5MPa offers a lens material that is 30 percent softer than comparable two-week silicone hydrogel lenses.¹ This combination of high oxygen transmissibility and low modulus promotes corneal health and further aids in lens-wearing comfort.

CooperVision’s Avaira is manufactured from enfilcon A, and features a UV blocker and CooperVision’s proven aberration neutralizing system™. This system uses unique aspheric optics that enhance vision by minimizing spherical aberrations inherent in both the lens and the human eye. Avaira also utilizes an optimized back surface and rounded edge design, which allows for easy fitting and better comfort.

Currently approved for daily wear throughout the United States, Avaira is now available with sphere powers from -0.25D to -12.00D (in 0.50D steps above -6.00D). The lens has a base curve of 8.5mm and a diameter of 14.2mm. Dk is 100, Dk/t is 125, and water content of the lens is 46 percent. Avaira comes in a six-lens pack or a three-lens trial carton.
